Lubbock Salvation Army gives relief in the heat to homeless

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Salvation Army offered some relief from the heat to people who are homeless.

It partnered with the Lubbock Police Department, United Supermarkets and Coca Cola to give "Hope Through Hydration" with cold drinks and goodie bags filled with snacks and toiletries.

"We created a hydration station for the homeless, because of the hot temperatures we've had recently, we wanted to give back to the community, and help them stay hydrated, and we partnered with United Supermarkets, who donated a lot of items, for goodie bags that we put together," Amber Berryhill, with Coca Cola, said.

They hope to do this on a monthly basis and they encourage the public to stop by and donate any sized hygenic items.
