LUBBOCK, Texas -

Property owners in Lubbock ISD can expect to see the relief state lawmakers promised soon.

The district voted to set the property tax rate seven cents lower than last year's. It comes after the state legislature set aside additional money for public education. Board of Trustees President Zach Brady said this allowed the district to adopt this rate.

"Our total bill will be, or tax rate, is $1.165 going forward, so that's seven cents, that's a 6 percent cut. That's very significant, and we're very pleased to be able to pass that savings on to our local property tax payers."

Brady said the board is proud to be able to provide this tax relief.
