Above average highs next several days, low chance for storms

LUBBOCK, Texas -

We had a few very light showers through the overnight hours to our west. This activity has diminished, but some clouds are expected this morning.

TODAY: Mostly sunny with the high near 98, still hot so stay hydrated and find ways to stay keep your body cooled off. An isolated shower or storm will be possible to our far northern counties later this afternoon.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy with the low near 71.

WEDNESDAY: High near 96 with a cold front pushing into our region. This may bring a better chance for some isolated storms in our area late afternoon and evening hours.

EXTENDED: This front will continue to provide a chance for storms in the area through early Friday. Not much of a cool down though with highs in the mid 90s through Friday, then hotter this weekend. Models are hinting a stronger front possible next week, of course we will keep you updated on if this pans out as models can change by then.

Have a great Tuesday! Matt with the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
