Frenship ISD trustees approve avg. 10.5 percent pay raise

Updated:

Frenship ISD trustees approved an average 10.5 percent increase for educators, including all full-time teachers, librarians, nurses and counselors.

The raise will be based on years of experience. The minimum raise for employees on the salary schedule is 5.77 percent, according to a news release from the district.

First-year teachers will now make $41,000.

The news release states the new salary schedule follows state lawmakers' work this spring, along with the district's plan already in place to increase salaries.

“An effective educator is a highly skilled professional whose positive impact on the lives of students is immeasurable. We are delighted to increase the compensation of our dedicated staff,” said superintendent Dr. Michelle McCord in the release.

A 4.5 percent raise is approved for other staff, including maintenance and custodial staff, police officers, teaching assistants, clerical staff and administrators.
