UPDATED: Criminal charges in vehicle fire that killed three-year-old

PLAINVIEW, Texas -

updated 9:57 p.m. Friday - The Plainview Daily Herald reports one person has been arrested, charged with criminally negligent homicide. The person's name was not released.

 

 Plainview Police Department news release:

On Friday, Aug, 16, at 2:45 p.m., the Plainview Police and Fire Department were dispatched to the 3600 block of Olton Road in reference to a car on fire.

Officers arrived to find a 3-year-old child dead in a car seat in the back of a silver-colored Chrysler. At the time of this incident, the child’s father was present and is being detained for further investigation. The state Fire Marshall has been notified.
