Frenship ISD hosts leadership summit for its educators

WOLFFORTH, Texas -

About a thousand of Frenship ISD's educators engaged in a leadership and innovation summit to share strategies about classroom instruction Thursday.

The director of this summit, Keith Patrick, said the goal is to create the best learning experience for students when their classes open Monday.

"They spend their day together. Teachers teaching teachers innovative ideas and talking about new ways to incorporate technology into their instruction," Patrick said.

Elisha Reese, the assistant principal at Frenship High School, said hearing these ideas from teachers, instead of the "experts" is invaluable.

"It's taught by teachers who are in the trenches so what better way to learn than to learn from those who are experiencing the same obstacles that you are," Reese said.

She said the biggest challenge educators face now is the evolution of technology in and out of the classroom, adding this summit helps them adapt together.

"Students are much different today than they were 10 years ago. They change every single year. It's the different things they have to overcome and deal with, outside of the walls of the school, so it's just finding ways to make that educational experience more beneficial to them," Reese said.
