CSRL hosts field day

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Cropping Systems Research Laboratory hosted a field day, to give the public a look behind the scenes.

Director Alex Rooney says days like this are important, to show taxpayers how their money is being invested in improving the agricultural economy. He encourages reaching out to schools, to teach our younger generation the importance of agriculture.

"We invite anybody to come on out and learn more about us if they'd like," Rooney said. "We'd certainly like to see more folks from the community interested in our work, particularly the local school districts. We have an open invitation to all teachers that come out to bring their students for filed trips and learn about agriculture and how we're helping West Texas in particular. "

Its research is focused on a variety of topics, including wind erosion, water conservation and cotton production and processing.
