Lubbock sports complex named in memory of Tom Martin

The City of Lubbock's youth sports complex at FM 1585 and Milwaukee Avenue is now named in memory of former mayor Tom Martin.

Martin served the public in multiple Texas cities for decades, including roles as public information officer, police officer and police chief. He later served as Lubbock city councilman then mayor.

"Given his love of baseball, and his contributions to the city of Lubbock, it is appropriate to name this athletic facility in his honor," councilman Jeff Griffith said.

Martin died last year at the age of 69. Below is a report from last year on his legacy.
