Today is August 1st and we will continue hot temperatures with the high near 100. Sunny with a light southerly wind 5-15mph.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild again with the low near 72.
FRIDAY: High near 101 with a mostly sunny sky. The ridge of high pressure will start to push out of west Texas moving westwards. Models do show a chance for showers and storms in the northern Panhandle and in New Mexico, but diminishes before getting into our area.
WEEKEND: Changes on the way with a cold front moving through Saturday. This will provide a cool down with highs in the upper 80s/low 90s Sunday. Also, a slight chance for some showers and storms as this front pushes through the area. Not expecting wide spread rain, isolated instead and most of us look to stay dry.
NEXT WEEK: The ridge of high pressure will quickly diminish any rain chances and bring back hot temperatures again by Tuesday. There might be some isolated rain chances late Tuesday from activity in New Mexico.
Have a great Thursday! Drink plenty of water and stay cool in this heat. Matt with the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
