Texas Boys Ranch awarded national accreditation

LUBBOCK, Texas -

After more than a year of work the Texas Boys Ranch met nearly 1,000 standards and achieved national accreditation.

The Council on Accreditation awarded the Boys Ranch the highest national standards.  It helps establish the organizations quality services across the South Plains.

"We're always looking for opportunities to serve a different population of kids or our kiddos that we're currently not serving well. For example, supervised independent living, that's one of the things I'd like to do," Texas Boys Ranch President John Sigle said. "So we'd like to pursue funding to help us to provide homes, duplexes, shelter facilities of some sort for kiddos that age out of care. And to make sure that they have a good start in life before are out on their own."

Sigle said while the accreditation process is done the agency just northeast of Lubbock will continue to strive for new levels of excellence.

The Boys Ranch specializes in adoption and foster care for boys and girls on the South Plains. Its largest fundraiser of the year is in a couple weeks. Join us August 10 on FOX34 for the 44th Annual Texas Boys Ranch Telethon.
