LUBBOCK, Texas -

The largest U.S. based agriscience company in the world broke ground on its new facility in Lubbock Thursday morning.

Corteva Agriscience helps farmers maximize yield and profit. Its newest facility will be at the Lubbock Rail Port.

Mayor Pope said it will help boost Lubbock's economy.

"They fit very well in our market because they're going to research on cotton and sorghum and corn, those types of things. So, good jobs. It's a further investment in our community and we're very excited about it," he said.

Mayor Pope said the facility is expected to be completed by early 2020.
