 Frenship Independent School District:

Frenship Independent School District is excited to announce the addition of Lauren Denning as the new Frenship High School girls head soccer coach.

Denning joins Frenship with 10 years of collegiate coaching experience including serving the last seven years as the Lubbock Christian University women’s assistant soccer coach.

The Frenship ISD Board of Trustees approved Denning’s appointment on Monday. Coming off the heels of a successful season as 2019 I-6A semifinalists, Denning hopes her passion and 28 years of experience of playing and coaching will add to an already thriving girls soccer program.

“I’m humbled and honored,” said Denning. “I know the expectations are high. I know they’ve had so much success in the past, and I definitely want to contribute to that and put my mark on that.”

While leading the girls through a winning season is important, Denning says empowering and preparing the young student athletes for a successful future is her top priority. “I want to make sure they recognized how much I care about them as a person and then player comes second,” she said. “I think that’s my first goal is to really make sure we are building something that goes beyond the soccer field. You are going to be prepared to succeed in college or whatever you end up doing because of being on this team.”

Prior to her seven years of coaching at LCU, Denning served as the assistant soccer coach for the men’s and women’s soccer program at Ouachita Baptist University from 2009 to 2012. As a collegiate soccer player, she also holds the current records at OBU for most assists per game and most points per game.

Denning’s passion for soccer is shared by her husband Alex who is the LCU women’s head soccer coach. They live in Lubbock with their daughter Jade and son Luke.
