HOCKLEY COUNTY, Texas -

A Hockley County Sheriff's Deputy arrested two suspects after confiscating more than 200 grams of methamphetamine Sunday.

The deputy responded to a shots fired call near FM 2130 and FM 2641, in the eastern part of Hockley County. Upon arrival, the deputy found a car with Abundio Barboza Jr., 30, and Alexis Barboza, 31, inside, according to court documents.

A search warrant indicates the deputy asked Abundio to step out of the car so he could pat him down for weapons. A Levelland police officer arrived on scene for backup.

Deputies report the officer noticed a syringe sticking out from the compartment under the radio inside the car. When asked about the syringe Alexis attempted to hide it, pushing it further into the compartment, according to deputies.

The officer initiated a search and found multiple baggies of what appeared to be methamphetamine, a black 9 mm pistol, two scales, a measuring spoon and a pipe commonly use for smoking meth, according to the search warrant.

The total weight of the suspected methamphetamine was 205.2 grams. The substance also field-tested positive.

Deputies report Abundio was found to be a convicted felon and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Dispatch informed the deputy Alexis had a warrant out of Castro County.

Abundio and Alexis are both held on a $25,000 bond.
