Look Around Lubbock: Real Texans Wear Uniforms campaign

The “Real Texans Wear Uniforms” campaign is centered around the idea that 77% of the state’s firefighters are volunteers, and many of these individuals wear daily uniforms that help fuel the state’s economic engine in many diverse professional occupations – mechanics, cowboys, nurses, pilots – to name a few, and these same individuals also “suit up” as volunteer firefighters when they hear the call. Texas needs more brave men and women to wear the “uniform” of a volunteer firefighter and help serve their communities as firefighters.

The States Firefighters’ and Fire Marshals’ Association has set up a website at VOLFIRE.COM for interested individuals to learn more about becoming a firefighter. The website will direct interested parties to the local fire departments for them to interface with the fire department in their area for more detailed information.
