LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock County Sheriff's Office investigators, the LSO SWAT team and the U.S. Marshals arrested a man accused of trying to kidnap a 9-year-old from a home while she was sleeping.

John David Martinez, 32, was arrested on a warrant issued by the Lubbock County District Attorney's Office and charged with burglary with intent to commit another felony.

Investigators report Martinez allegedly broke in through the window of a home near North Frankford Ave. and Clovis Rd.

Deputies report the victim was sleeping on the couch near the living room windows when she woke up to an unknown man "touching her private parts".

The victim told officers Martinez then picked her up from the couch and carried her to the west bedroom whispering for her to be quiet and not tell anybody, according to the arrest warrant. Investigators believe once the child began screaming, Martinez dropped her in the bedroom before jumping out of the same window he came in through.

He is held on a $200,000 bond.
