Murder victims’ families urge teens to stop killing

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Just within these past weeks, we have been reporting on crimes involving young adults.

"It's not just the person you're robbing. think about everyone else," Ty Fawver said.

Ty Fawver is the son of Larry Fawver, who was murdered Saturday. Ty is showed, angry, and confused. His entire family drove to Lubbock from across the state only to hear police say, it was his dad's step-grandson who killed him.

He said Felix Alonzo grew up in a good home, attended private school, and had just been accepted into college.

"It was premeditated and they had five hours to drive here and think about it and change their minds and they didn't do it," Ty said.

Ty suspects somewhere down the line, Alonzo just got into a bad crowd. He pleads with other teenagers, whatever they are after is not worth it.

"Think about the consequences, you know what's going to happen after you do this," Ty said. "Whether you get caught or not, you’re still...you’re still hurting a lot of people."

Now, a grandmother has to deal with losing both her husband and grandchild.

"I just pray that it doesn't break my family apart," Ty said.

About a week ago, another life was taken when Robert Dendy came out to defend his neighbors during a home invasion in North West Lubbock and was shot and killed.

"They just took everything from me, everything," Teresa Dendy said.

Teresa knows the pain the Fawvers are going through. As hard as it is to accept, the love of her life was taken from her. She still has sympathy for the her husband's killer. Investigators say it was a 14-year-old boy.

"I have forgiven, I have forgiven," Dendy said. "Because me hating them will not bring that good man back to me, and you can't replace him, ever replace him."

She feels for the suspect's family and said she is getting through this hard time with faith. But it is still unsettling knowing there are other kids committing violent crimes.

"It's so sad, it hurts my heart, it does," Dendy said.

Dendy said it is important to rely on the justice system during this time.
