Road closures scheduled to continue investigations of recent major crashes

LUBBOCK, Texas -

On Tuesday, July 16, and Thursday, July 18, officers with the Lubbock Police Department Major Crash Investigators Unit will temporarily shutdown several streets to continue investigations into recent major crashes. 

Each scene should not take more than two hours. 

Road closures scheduled for Tuesday are as follows: 

  • 10:00 a.m. - 7800 North I-27
    - Northbound traffic will be closed and diverted off of I-27 
    - The left lane of southbound travel will be closed 
  • 1:00 p.m. - 500 North Detroit
    - The entire intersection of North Detroit and Duke Street will be closed

Road closures scheduled for Thursday are as follows: 

  • 9:00 a.m. - 3900 East Loop 289 and 19th Street / Milwaukee Ave.
    - Northbound traffic will be closed and diverted off of East Loop 28
    - The entire intersection of 19th Street and Milwaukee will be closed. 
  • 1:00 p.m. - 27th St. / Ave. Q and 1900 19th Street
    - 27th street on the eastside of Ave. Q will be closed
    Westbound traffic will be diverted northbound on Ave. S 

These times are tentative and LPD encourages drivers to use caution in these areas as officers conduct their investigations.
