LUBBOCK, Texas -

Felix Alonzo has been charged with the murder of Larry Fawver, 67. Police reports indicate Fawver was found dead in the rear driveway of his residence with a gunshot wound.

Family members of Alonzo, Fawver's step-grandson, believed he was in Fort Worth. Officers at the Lubbock Police Department contacted his parents who thought he was in town spending time with his friends, according to a police report.

Before Fawver was murdered, his wife said she saw him drive his green tractor to the front of their residence towards their driveway, noticing only moments later that Fawver was on the ground surrounded by three men wearing dark clothing with hoods. After being instructed by her husband, she ran until she arrived at her daughter's home 100-yards away where she called 9-1-1.

Investigators report security video shows three men walking towards the area of the shooting and 23 minutes later shows the same men walking away from the shooting.

Witnesses told police they saw the three men walking away from the shooting. One witness said one had gotten in a silver or light blue colored car on 126th street just west of Chicago Avenue.

9-1-1 was alerted of a car accident with a vehicle involved fitting the description of the witness. Alonzo was the driver of the vehicle, according to police.

Police report Alonzo had prior knowledge of the property where his step-grandfather lived and visited the property approximately one month ago, spending the night with family members. He was located in Lubbock about 16 minutes after the shooting. Investigators believe he and the other suspects participated in and caused the death of Fawver.

Alonzo's bond is set at $300,000.
