Texas GOP Chairman visits Lubbock, warns of 'liberal efforts'

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The head of the Texas Republican Party issues a red alert in Lubbock.

James Dickey is touring the state to warn Republicans about liberal efforts to turn it into a battleground state. He said the races in 2020 show Texas is vulnerable and its conservative policies can be reversed if the GOP doesn't stand its ground.

"We saw this last election, far too close of a scare of Texas policies being driven off a cliff," he said. "Anyone who is paying attention to the presidential debates has seen just how off-the-edge, how extreme, how crazy the ideas are that are being flowed in and we don't need to have that in Texas."

Dickey said the overall strategy is to retake the 12 state house seats the party lost in the midterms.

In Congress, there were six races that were too tight for Dickey's comfort. He warns those half-dozen seats are prime targets for the Democratic party next year.
