Western Title drives donations for Children's Advocacy Center

Western Title drives donations for Children's Advocacy Center

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Children's Advocacy Center is responsible for handling some of the worst child abuse cases in our area. Its year-round mission leads to investigations and prosecutions. It also connects families to the care and support they need in dire circumstances.

Heather Brandt does marketing and communications for Western Title. She noticed the Children's Advocacy Center could use a hand.

"I was scrolling through their Facebook page, and I saw they had a need for stuffed animals and blankets on there," Brandt said.

The center is downtown and across Lubbock from Western Title. Brandt figured its south side location would cover more ground for donations.

For the next week, you can drop off blankets, stuffed animals and books west of Huneke Park. The company can deliver them to the Advocacy Center.

"I thought we could be a good drop point, so I just put it on Facebook and started a whole drive," Brandt said.

Once the advocates take in a child, they provide a blanket, book or stuffed animal. It is to help comfort them during a tough time.

"Anything that the community can help and provide, whether it's also snacks and drinks for the kids or stuffed animals or books, those things are greatly appreciated," Derek Danner of the Children's Advocacy Center said.

You can donate items to either Western Title (4204 82nd street) or The Children's Advocacy Center (720 Texas Avenue).
