Lubbock firefighters participate in Operation Warm to provide coats for kids

LUBBOCK, Texas -

A donation to provide coats for kids in the fall will be doubled through Thursday July 4.

The Lubbock Professional Firefighters Association will match each donation made. This effort has provided more than 2,400 coats to students at seven schools.

The crewman say it's more than just an article of clothing.

"If you see the light in the kids' eyes when they get to go pick out that coat, when we write their names in that coat, it's an incredible opportunity -- not only does it impact us as firemen, but we get to play a huge role in that child's life and essentially that family's life," Tyler Henderson said.

The drive will continue to raise money through to the fall.
