Honey Hen Farms, a small family farm, will be selling eggs and chicken at the Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market. Honey Hen Farms has a variety of chickens, but they are primarily various strains of Rhode Island Red and White Leghorns. The chickens are fed a certified organic feed milled in Slaton, Texas and can roam freely over pasture that is mostly made up of native grasses that make for good forage. The meat chickens are raised on pasture after it is safe for them to leave the brooder. From the brooder, they go to a mobile coop in a pasture that is safe from predators. Their coop is moved almost every day to give them access to fresh pasture with lots of bugs and seeds to eat.
Honey Hen Farms offers medium, large, and extra large eggs for sale by the dozen. The eggs are washed and refrigerated. Whole chickens and cut up chickens are also available. To order some eggs or chicken: click here.
