Lubbock Chamber of Commerce to host a Civic and Public Leadership Academy


LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce will host a Civic and Public Leadership Academy for individuals interested in running for local office, school board or various elected positions, as well as potential supporters of issues campaigns. The program will emphasize public service and the candidacy process covering requirements and best practices for both candidates or persons participating in the political campaign, whether it be a ballot measure or elected position. 

This workshop will be held on Wed., July 31, from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center, 1500 Broadway, second floor - San Jacinto Room.

“The Civic and Public Leadership Academy isn’t just for those interested in running for office, we will also discuss how one can get involved on boards and commissions in the Lubbock community,” said Eddie McBride, Lubbock Chamber President/CEO. “We started the program more than a decade ago and various public officials have gone through this very same course. I highly encourage anyone that has even considered serving in a public setting to participate in this crash course.”

The Civic and Public Leadership Academy is open to any civically-minded citizen of Lubbock County and is non-partisan in nature. Facilitators and guest speakers will include Mike Stevens, Action Data; Kim Davis, Nomiss Communications, and Becky Garza, City Secretary.
