More storms possible today, lower chances rest of the week

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Large hail fell with last nights storms before diminishing after the sunset. Also, some heavy rainfall where above 2" was recorded by the National Weather Service on south Loop.

We are nice and clear this morning with temperatures a little cooler than this time yesterday.

TODAY: Another chance for some severe storms to develop later this afternoon and evening hours. Again, threats with these storms will be larger sized hail, damaging wind, and flooding. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted most of our area with the lower (Marginal) risk for these severe storms.

Highs will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s with a light breeze from the south/southeast.

TONIGHT: The chance for storms will diminish once the sunsets with clouds clearing overnight. Low near 66 with calmer southeast wind 5-15mph.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny with the high near 92. A ridge of higher pressure build across the area and that will help to keep us drier. Some storms will develop in New Mexico and these might make it into our northwestern counties later in the evening.

EXTENDED: Seasonal temperatures with more sunshine and a lower chance for storms through the rest of the week and for the weekend.

Have a great Tuesday! Matt keeping you updated with storms and the latest forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
