Salvation Army of Lubbock sends kids to Central Texas summer camp

LUBBOCK, Texas -

34 kids left the Salvation Army headquarters Monday morning to enjoy summer camp in Central Texas.

Camp Hoblitzelle, a faith-based retreat focused on team building exercises, is located in Midlothian.

"And it's all done under the guise of providing kids with a respite to go to during the summer to explore God's creation and to dig into His Word and just have a wonderful time away from the city," David Worthy, Corp Officer with the Lubbock Salvation Army, said.

Camp runs all week. Another group of 50 kids will leave July 9 through July 13.

Major Worthy said more kids go to Camp Hoblitzelle from Lubbock than anywhere else in Texas.
