We hit 100 degrees for the first time this year in Lubbock today. It's not too bad when the first reading is on June 20. With this intense heat, there have been a few dry microbursts or dry thunderstorms. One of these briefly formed near Anton, northwest of Lubbock, and produced gusts in excess of 60mph. Here is current radar:
Radar will not show anything significant, because these are producing little or no rain. Most of us will miss this, but a few locations could get brief, strong wind this evening.
TONIGHT: Low near 68, mostly clear, wind SW 10-18mph.
TOMORROW: High 100, mostly sunny and breezy. Wind W/SW 12-22mph. A few isolated storms are possible late.
WEEKEND: Not has hot Saturday and Sunday, but still in the low to mid 90s and breezy. There is a slim chance for a storm late both days.
NEXT WEEK: More heat, though pretty typical for this time of year. Average high next several days is 92.
Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
