Hotter next couple of days, more rain in the forecast next week

LUBBOCK, Texas -

There is a lot of outdoor events going on through the day. Tech will play OSU starting at 2P at Dan Law Field. Make sure you stay hydrated and wear sunscreen if you plan on being at the game. Temperatures will be in the lower 80s at first pitch, then upper 80s by the end of the game. High near 88, sunny with a light wind changing southeasterly. It will be a beautiful evening for First Friday Art Trail with temperatures dropping to the upper 70s and low 80s.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with the low near 64.

SATURDAY: High near 95!! There will be a chance for an isolated storm or two during the afternoon. Not expecting much in coverage and most of us will stay dry.

COLD FRONT: The hot temperatures won't last long as a front pushes through the area early Sunday. How much cold air moves in behind the front is still questionable. Some models dropping highs to the lower 70s while others keep us in the upper 80s. There will also be a chance for more showers and storms starting late Sunday and into Monday. The wind will be stronger 15-30mph through early Monday before backing down.

NEXT WEEK: The coolest day will likely be Monday with cloud cover in place and the chance for showers and storms. Our upper atmosphere will stay a northwesterly flow to help these temperatures to stay below average. A few disturbances will keep a slight chance for more rain through the week.

Have a great Friday and weekend. Remember to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen if you plan on being outdoors. Robert will have the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
