Hobbs man arrested, charged with murder

HOBBS, New Mexico -

A Hobbs man has been charged with the shooting and killing of Jose Martinez, 25, of Hobbs. 

On May 26, Lea County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 3100 block of East Stanolind Rd. for reports of a man who had been shot multiple times. 

Deputies located Martinez injured inside the home with visible gunshot wounds on his body. He later died. 

Investigators identified the suspect as Ali Medrano Calvillo, 25, of Hobbs, and charged him with murder. 

He was arrested and booked into the Lea County Detention Center. Calvillo was released after posting a $4,000 cash bond.
