4th on Broadway adds Ferris wheel

LUBBOCK, Texas -

A big addition will be added this year to 4th on Broadway.

Lubbock National Bank donated $25,000 for the event's newest attraction, a Ferris wheel. The presentation at Mackenzie Park also debuted the grand marshals for this year's parade.

Don Caldwell, the festival's president, said the bank's donation will be a joy for the public.

"This year we called on Lubbock National Bank to help us sponsor that Ferris wheel and they said 'we'd be happy to do it' and it's coming out of South Carolina. It's a wonderful 42 foot Ferris wheel," he said. "It's free to the public all day, it's going to be a lot of fun."

This year's Grand Marshals are Lieutenant General Dr. Bernhard and Mary Beth Mittemeyer. Dr. Mittemeyer is a three-star General and former Surgeon General of the Army. He has also helped the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Medicine become one of the finest medical schools in America.

This year's Fourth on Broadway theme is "Celebrate Heroes".

The 4th on Broadway festivities start July 2 with the annual Amigos La Raza on the Plaza, at the Lubbock County courthouse square. Bands just announced for the event include AJ Castillo, Stefani, and DJ Sancho. Tickets are available now.
