Overnight showers and storms brought some locations some good rainfall where others stayed dry. Here are some of the better locations and totals from the Tech Mesonet:
TODAY: The showers and storms have move east of our area but cloud cover is increasing. High near 81, light southeast wind 5-15mph. We may have a few isolated storms developing later this afternoon.
TONIGHT: Storms will likely develop to our west and southwest and push into our area in the evening hours. Some of these storms might become strong and severe with the greater risk in southeastern New Mexico and further southwest Texas. Again not everyone will receive rainfall, but locations that do could get some heavy rainfall. Low near 83 and mostly cloudy.
WEEKEND: Things are looking the same with a partly to mostly cloudy sky during the day, then a risk for storms starting in the late afternoon and evening. Models are showing a better widespread complex of storms overnight Saturday that may be severe. Make sure to have ways to stay updated with possible severe storms in the overnight hours. Highs will warm a little to the lower to mid 80s.
NEXT WEEK: We are between a ridge of high pressure to the southeast and a upper level low to our west. This low will slowly move east across our region by mid week taking the better rain chances with it. Expect periods of showers and storms to continue through mid week.
Have a great weekend! Robert will be in tonight and through the weekend to keep you updated.
