Road closure near 4th Street, York and Vicksburg Ave. due to cut gas line
LUBBOCK, Texas -
Officials with ATMOS Engery say 4th Street between York and Vicksburg Avenues are closed down to through traffic due to a cut natural gas line.
ATMOS Energy reports crews are onsite working to stop the leak, along with Lubbock Fire Rescue. Lubbock Police are helping divert traffic. The leak was contained around 6:21 p.m. The road closure is expected to last an hour.
ATMOS says a contractor unrelated to the department was working in the area of 4th Street and Wayne and struck a 3 inch natural gas line. Seven homes lost service as a result.
Once repairs are made, ATMOS crews will restore service to the affected customers.
As a safety reminder, always call 811 before doing any type of digging to allow for all underground utilities to be marked and flagged.
