South Plains Food Bank receives $10,000 donation from PlainsCapital Bank

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The South Plains Food Bank has more money stowed away for the tough summer months.

It accepted a $10,000 donation from PlainsCapital Bank. Summers are tough for the food bank because the demand goes up as kids aren't in school to get free or reduced price meals.

The Food Bank's CEO David Weaver said while PlainsCapital has been a supporter for 30 years, he hopes its generosity can encourage others to aid in the fight against food insecurity.

"We touch 58,000 people every year and it really does take our community pulling together to do that. We're grateful for partners like Plains who really step up and have made a commitment to us, but it takes all of us working together," Weaver said.

PlainsCapital Bank has donated more than $300,000, providing more than one million meals for families across the South Plains.
