LUBBOCK, Texas -

A group of kids from our area will get a chance to fly for the first time

The Young Eagle program will hold a fly-in breakfast and its first Flying Start Saturday. It's designed to get young people involved in aviation.

Along with giving kids their first experience piloting, it's also a good way to show them career options. This includes aircraft sales, insurance, aviation mechanics, air traffic controllers and flight attendants.

There will also be a presentation for adults, about getting into flying as a hobby. The manager at Lubbock Executive Airpark says it's not much more expensive than any other hobby.

The breakfast runs from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18. The flying will go from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is at Lubbock Executive Airpark at 114th Street and MLK. Admission is free.
