Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lubbock wraps up Golf For Kids' Sake tournament

LUBBOCK, Texas -

(Press Release)

SERVPRO® of Southwest Lubbock has wrapped up their annual Golf For Kids’ Sake tournament and concert benefiting the local Lubbock chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters. As a Title Sponsor, SERVPRO has been hosting and facilitating this golf tournament for now 14 years in support of BBBS, their local philanthropy.

“Big Brothers Big Sisters is a fantastic organization that makes a big difference for kids in our community. As a local business, we are proud to be able to support them as long as we have,” says SERVPRO co-owner Joel Mowery. “We thank everyone who joined us at the kick-off concert and tournament and helped us raise $56,775 for those kids. We couldn’t have done it without you.”

As the largest fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lubbock, the kick-off and tournament are vital to their mission of providing youth with strong, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring services in Lubbock and the South Plains area.

“The Golf for Kids’ Sake Tournament makes a tremendous difference in the lives of youth in Lubbock and the South Plains area,” says Director Melissa Corley of BBBS in Lubbock. “Monies raised from the kickoff and tournament strengthen our mentoring programs by allowing us to identify the needs of children and recruit and train volunteers to serve as mentors. The commitment of everyone who comes together for this event helps change lives for the better.”

100% of funds raised stays in the local chapter Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lubbock.

This year’s Kick-Off Concert on April 26 featured The Mike Pritchard Juke Box Band with Ken Matlock, Dustin Garrett and Bobby McDowell as musical entertainment and offered exciting auction items like a travel-inclusive trip to a Tastemaker Tour destination, front-row seats to a Josh Abbott Band concert, and a winetasting tour for eight with party bus transportation.

The 14th Annual Golf for Kids’ Sake Golf Tournament was held at the Rawls Golf Course on May 3 with 32 participating teams and fun themed holes. Despite afternoon weather interruptions, many teams returned to the course with clubs in hand.

To find out how to participate next year as a tournament team, sponsor, or kick-off auction donor, please contact Jennifer Jones of SERVPRO at jjones@servproofswlubbock.com.
