Lubbock Police deliver meals on Peace Officer's Memorial Day

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Police were out Wednesday delivering meals across Lubbock.

The Lubbock Police Department and Meals on Wheels paired up for Peace Officer's Memorial Day. Started by John F. Kennedy nearly 60 years ago, it's celebrated every year on May 15.

"This is important for the community relations with the department and the people that we protect on a daily basis," LPD Officer Aaron Spann, said. "It's good to get to know some of the folks."

The officers delivered more than 800 meals on 59 different routes throughout the afternoon.
