Warmer next few days, storms possible Friday

THIS AFTERNOON: It's a sunny and mild day, temp in the 80s. This is a sign of what's to come next few days.

TONIGHT: Clear, low near 55. Wind SW/S 5-12mph.

TOMORROW: High near 87, sunny, wind SW/S 5-15mph.

NEXT FEW DAYS: It'll be a little bit warmer Thursday, possibly up to 90 here with a gusty southwest wind.

An upper-level storm system will move across the southwestern United States late this week. It'll help draw up more humidity into our area late this week. But there are still some fairly significant differences in various computer models of how all this will play out. Some keep the dry line in our area Friday afternoon, with big storms developing along it. Other model runs push the dry line well east and lead to a dry, windy day here.

It's important to note, even if it's a dry afternoon with the dry line mixing east, there's the possibility the humidity returns during the evening and storms develop here Friday night.

Hopefully we'll get better clarity in the next day or so on how all this should play out. For now, we'll mention there is a chance for storms Friday afternoon through early Saturday morning. If storms develop, there's a good chance they'll turn severe.

The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted much of our area with the risk for severe weather Friday, with a greater risk in the darker shading:

Then the weekend will turn mild, dry and windy. The next chance for storms is Monday. Once again, we aren't sure the humidity will stay west. But if it does, some severe weather will be possible. The SPC has highlighted parts of our area with the risk Monday:

Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
