Lubbock Council to commemorate David Nelson's life

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock City Council will commemorate David Nelson's life and service Tuesday, with a joint recognition. Council members will acknowledge the West Texas Cycling Association's Ride of Silence.

It's part of a world-wide event that promotes bicycle safety and includes a "ghost bike" to recognize cyclists who have died in crashes.

Nelson died last summer when he was struck from behind by a pick-up.

The Ride of Silence will begin at 6:30 Wednesday evening at the Texas Tech Credit Union location on-campus.
