CLOVIS, New Mexico -

Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that today Sarina Dodson, 28, was sentenced on three counts of assisting escape and one count of bringing contraband into a jail.

On June 15, 2018, Curry County Detention inmates Aaron Clark, Victor Apodaca and Ricky Sena escaped from the outdoor recreation area of the jail through three secured doors. Dodson was the only detention officer working the control desk at the time.

Dodson was arrested in Lubbock on June 19, 2018. The three inmates were at large for almost a week before they were apprehended during a SWAT team standoff with Clovis Police.

Judge Matthew Chandler presided over the sentencing hearing. Chandler stated, “This wasn’t a spontaneous decision, this was the result of days and week of planning.  We can all remember where we were when we heard that three dangerous inmates had escaped.  The ripple effect of fear spread across the community.”

Dodson is sentenced to 10 and a half years with 18 months being suspended in favor of supervised probation.
