LUBBOCK, Texas -

Thursday May 2nd 6-10 pm, Friday May 3rd 6-10 pm and Saturday May 4th 8 am to 10 pm, Lubbock Fire Rescue will be hosting its annual Lubbock Fire Conference where firefighters from across the region gather for in-depth training.

During this time smoke will be visible in the area south of Lubbock International Airport and near the Lubbock Fire Rescue Training facility.

Training provides education from beginner to advanced firefighting techniques. Fire chiefs from across the nation also teach higher level training and safety.

"So, it's a spot where a lot of the volunteers can come in and get training. At the same time we have some of our guys go through some of this training as well. So, it's just a lot of spots where we can train together in some instances but sometimes it's where you can further your education," Capt. Kevin Ivy, Lubbock Fire Rescue, said.

The LFR Fire Training Conference has been educating firefighters across West Texas for more than 70 years.
