A few light showers with embedded thunderstorms this morning. From the Texas Tech Mesonet here are some rain totals:
Unofficially at the Lubbock airport: 0.17"
Lake Alan Henry 0.08"
White River Lake 0.06"
TODAY: Showers have pushed into the Rolling Plains and diminished. Mostly sunny for the rest of the afternoon with the high temperatures near 77. Southeast/south wind will become breezy 15-25mph.
TONIGHT: Another round of showers and storms developing in New Mexico will likely make it into the South Plains. Again, not a widespread rain event but some locations could pick up some small amounts. Low near 58, south/southwest wind staying a light breeze 12-20mph.
WEEKEND: Highs climbing to the upper 80s with a mostly sunny sky. There might be some storms developing I-27 and east during the daytime heating on Saturday where better moisture will be. The wind will be a light breeze but calmer than today.
MORE RAIN: Our next storm system will push across the region to start off next week. This will bring a better chance for widespread showers and storms. Potentially severe weather will be possible as well. This will start later Monday with the better chances into Tuesday. Temperatures will drop off a little but near average for this time of year.
Have a great Friday and weekend. Robert will have the latest updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine and through the weekend.
