Watch out for motorcyclists

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

With the warmer weather, you'll see more bikers on the roads. TXDOT wants you to look twice for motorcycles, to prevent crashes.

417 motorists died in crashes involving motorcycles in Texas last year. Nearly 2,000 were seriously injured.

Motorcycles are harder to see and more vulnerable.

One of the most common types of crashes is left turns through an intersection. Nearly a third of the crashes were related to those.

Always assume a biker is closer to you than they look. Give them a full lane, especially when you're passing.

May is National Motorcycle Safety Month.
