News release from Goodwill Industries:

LUBBOCK, TEXAS — Goodwill Document Destruction is partnering with Lubbock National Bank for their third annual Arbor Day Shred Event on Friday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at two Lubbock National Bank locations. Area residents may drop off personal documents and papers for complimentary, secure shredding at the LNB locations at 4811 50th St., or 4006 82nd St.  This event is free and open to the public for personal shredding needs.

Document Destruction Services of Goodwill Industries of Northwest Texas has established routes across the South Plains to service businesses, and accepts walk-in customers at 715 28th St. Revenue from the program helps expands the organization’s mission to “create job opportunities for people with barriers to employment.”

Along with its retail division, Goodwill’s Document Destruction Services help fund the organization which provides participants with free computer skills classes and other employment-related training.

“Our Document Destruction Services is one of the Goodwill programs that helps people with barriers to employment obtain and maintain jobs in our competitive workforce environment,” said Robin Raney, CEO for Goodwill Industries of Northwest Texas. “In addition, Goodwill’s entire business model surrounds the concept of ‘going green.’ We aim to ‘Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle,’ keeping as much waste out of the landfill as possible.”

In 2018, Evergreen Fiber Sales recognized Goodwill for “Outstanding Achievement and Recycling Excellence” for recycling 644 tons of paper. This conserved 10,948 trees, more than 4.5 million gallons of water and 2.6 million kilowatts of electricity, and kept 38,640 pounds of pollution out of the air and 1,932 cubic yards of waste out of the landfill.

“We are very happy to be partnering again with Goodwill of Lubbock to provide free shredding for our customers.  We fully support the mission of Goodwill of providing jobs and training for those in our community that may have barriers to employment,” said Randy Laycock, Senior Vice President – Marketing Director for Lubbock National Bank.
