LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech sophomore Jarrett Culver has earned Sporting News All-America honors after a regular-season where he averaged 18.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists and led the Red Raiders to the program's first Big 12 Conference regular-season championship.

A Lubbock native, Culver scored a career-high 31 points with four 3-pointers last Saturday in the win over Iowa State to secure the championship. He was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Year and Big 12 Conference First-Team on Sunday and then earned his third Big 12 Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Culver enters the postseason having scored 982 points in his career and is the fourth player in program history to earn Sporting News All-America honors following Paul Nolen (1950-51), Andre Emmett (2003-04) and Keenan Evans from last season.

The Sporting News First-Team All-America team consists of RJ Barrett (Duke), Rui Hachimura (Gonzaga), Grant Williams (Tennessee), Zion Williamson (Duke) and Cassius Winston (Michigan State). Joining Culver on the second-team is Ethan Happ (Wisconsin), Markus Howard (Marquette), Dedric Lawson (Kansas) and Ja Morant (Murray State). Brandon Clarke (Gonzaga), Carsen Edwards (Purdue), Kyle Guy (Virginia), De'Andre Hunter (Virginia) and PJ Washington (Kentucky) made up the third-team and completed the 15-player selection by the Sporting News.

Culver has scored in double-digits in 30 of 31 games and has now has 10 games with 20 or more points. His 31 against the Cyclones broke his previous career-high of 30 against Abilene Christian earlier this season. Culver is also on the John R. Wooden Award National Ballot, a Jerry West Award Finalist and on the Oscar Robertson Trophy Final Watch List. He has been one of the most consistent players in the nation throughout the regular season on both sides of the court and had a season full of highlights. He went off for 26 points in the home win over Kansas and has three double-doubles this season with 16 rebounds and 20 points against Iowa State, 23 points and 13 rebounds against Oklahoma and most recently a 19-point, 10-rebound performance in an overtime win over Oklahoma State.

The Red Raiders (26-5) are the second seed in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Championship and will play at 6 p.m. on Thursday against the Oklahoma-West Virginia winner at the Sprint Center in Kansas City.
