LUBBOCK, Texas -

Update (6 p.m. Friday)

Lubbock police reported Friday they will refer the investigation of this incident and the video to the Lubbock County District Attorney's office for prosecution of assault charges.

Police reported the incident occurred December 26, but was not reported to police until Thursday.

Investigators also learned the parents of the child and the daycare owners were not aware of the video until January 17.

Due to the nature of the incident, officers also notified Child Protective Services.

Original story (Thursday, Jan. 17)

Lubbock Police are looking into an incident at the My Little Playhouse Learning Center after a video surfaced online Thursday, reportedly from the facility.

It shows an employee grabbing a child by the hair and repeatedly tells her to "stand up" and "no ma'am, eat your food."

The mother and grandmother said they saw the video on social media and were "furious" and wanted charges brought against the woman in the video.

"I was at work, blood was just boiling. I was just hurt. I can't believe this. These people are crazy," Laquitta Wilson, the mother, said.

When the girl's grandmother, Shanna Walker saw the video, her first thought was to come to the daycare.

"I got my other grandchildren that I had at the time and I got in the vehicle and I said let's go because I am going to hurt somebody," Walker said.

The girl's aunt also showed up, wanting to have some words with the employee in the video.

"Then they wouldn't let us go in, you know what I mean," Alice Robinson said. "Well they come out of the side door said it's being tooken care of, well no, who is she, where is she at cause we want to have some, we have some questions for her. Why would you do that?"

The owners of My Little Playhouse Learning Center issued this statement in response to the video:

"The owners and Directors of My Little Playhouse Learning Center LLC were made aware of video footage posted on social media at approximately 11:45 a.m. Staff involved were fired immediately. Local authorities (LPD) has been notified and are investigating accordingly. Texas Department of Childcare Licensing has also been notified."

"People put these child's safety into these people's hands and there all they can say is we didn't know it was going on. Well you have a whole 'nother person recording the neglect, for one that's just as guilty, and then the person that's standing above my child doing it, but y'all don't even know that this is going on in your place, this is crazy," Wilson said. "This is just crazy."

She said she will likely never send her kids back to daycare.

"My daughters are less than four and three and it took me that long to actually put them in daycare and the one time I do, this happens and they've only been here about four months. I'm just saying, I'll probably never do this daycare thing again," Wilson said.
