Warm rest of week, cold front will bring changes late Friday

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Some clouds this morning with some chilly temperatures to start the first day at Tech.

TODAY: It will be a nice sunny afternoon with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s. The west wind will increase and becoming breezy 15-25mph.

TONIGHT: Calmer wind changing to the northwest 10-15mph. This change will be from a weak front pushing into the area, low near 37 and mostly clear.

REST OF THE WEEK: Temperatures will be a few degrees cooler but staying in the mid to upper 60s. Cloud cover will increase Friday ahead of a stronger cold front that will pass through the area late Friday night. This will bring a slight chance for light rain/ snow into early Saturday morning. Not expecting accumulations of snow with possible rain totals maybe a tenth of an inch.

EXTENDED: Colder air will filter in with a strong northerly wind through Saturday. This will make the wind chills in the single digits to teens early Saturday morning. Cloud cover will push east during the day with sunshine expected later the afternoon. Highs have warmed some from yesterday, but still a 20-25 degree drop Saturday. Warmer temperatures into next week, then another front will increase the wind and drop highs by midweek.

Have a great Wednesday! Matt will have the next update to the forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
