LUBBOCK COUNTY, Texas -

The Marsha Sharp Freeway re-opened during the morning commute Monday, after an hours-long police response to a suicidal person.

According to the Lubbock Police Department, calls first came in around Midnight. A man refused to move from the edge of a retainer wall on the flyover.

Police closed the flyover and parts of the freeway. More than a dozen officers and negotiators talked with him for about seven hours. They were able to get the man to step back safely. He was taken to the hospital.
