Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit work unsolved cases

Posted: Updated:

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit partners detectives from Lubbock Police Department and the Lubbock County's Sheriff Office to solve ongoing cases. Part of their mandate is unsolved murders and disappearances dating back decades.

"This unit is more about after a murder has occurred or a death has occurred and how do we piece together what happened and bring justice to the victim of the victim's family," Police Chief Greg Stevens said.

Investigator Bo Roberts said forming the unit and compiling intelligence has been enlightening detectives and investigators with details they didn't have before.

"We do have high hopes that the sharing of this information alone will bring some of the cases a little bit further along," Investigator Bo Roberts said.

Stevens said the investigators assigned to this unit are the cream of the cop and justice will be tracked down.

"We shuffle them around so fresh eyes get a look at them and so they remain assigned and remain active." Stevens said.

All efforts are combined to bring resolution to the victim's families.

"I would be motivated to want the investigators and detectives to do anything and everything for as long as it took to bring that closure home, so that's our goal," Roberts said.

If you have any information on a crime, call 741-1000, you will remain anonymous.
