Investigators: Patient smoking caused fire at UMC

LUBBOCK, Texas -

We have additional information on a fire at UMC Saturday night.

According to the Fire Marshal's Office, a patient was smoking inside a room on the third floor, while taking an oxygen treatment. The patient suffered burns.

Other patients on the floor had to be evacuated for the cleanup. No one else was hurt.
