In a reply to the State's request of $2 million for bail, Thomas Michael Dixon's attorneys are reiterating their request of $100,000 for bail in a motion filed in the the 7th Court of Appeals.

Dixon's attorneys argue that during his first two trials, Dixon "at no time" missed a court date or been accused of violating pre-trial conditions of bond.

Last week the State argued a $2 million bail is not an "instrument of oppression" and that it is a calculated amount that will ensure Dixon's appearance at his retrial. In the response from Dixon's attorneys argue a $2 million bail is both unreasonable and will act as an instrument of oppression. They say "Dixon's financial circumstances have changed substantially since his last trial."

In the State's motion filed on Friday, the State argued that Dixon has no ties or associations with Lubbock County, and has had his medical license revoked.  Dixon's attorneys argue that Dixon has strong ties to the community in Amarillo, and that his motion of bond was corrected to reflect that.

In the motion filed, Dixon's attorneys presented a number of similar cases where a suspect's bail was reduced.
