A chilly start to the new year - FOX34 Lubbock

A chilly start to the new year

Monday afternoon will be a little warmer than Sunday, but another system is forecast to push through which will drop our temperatures quite a bit.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear skies with a low of 27° and SW winds 10-15mph.

NEW YEAR'S EVE: Sunny with a high of 49° and breezy conditions. Expect WSW winds 10-20mph. The temperature at midnight will be 25° under partly cloudy skies, with NNE winds near 15-20 mph. This will bring the "feels-like" temperature down to 11°, so if you plan on celebrating outside, bundle up!

As this system pushes farther south, it will bring snow across much of New Mexico. We're looking at this possibility for snow to push farther east into our area. Right now, it looks like our New Mexico counties could see a little snowfall on Wednesday. At this time, it looks unlikely that we'll see much of this push far across the Texas state line. Into the weekend, expect temperatures to climb back into the 60s with sunny skies.
